2001 saw a terrifying sequences of crimes committed for drug money. Mass killings, rapes, hijackings and armed robberies were frighteningly commonplace. In 2005 the self-confessed killer Asanda Baninzi was handed 19 life sentences and an additional 189 years after pleading guilty to a checklist of appalling crimes. We investigate the motivation for committing such crimes, and how the police tracked their man down.
