What is MagellanTV?

MagellanTV is a streaming video service dedicated to bringing the finest high-quality documentaries to a global audience. The service is for active seekers of information determined to know how the world works and how we got to where we are. They are, by nature, attracted to documentaries that tell the great stories of History, Science, and Civilization.

How Many Programs do you Have?

Right now, MagellanTV streams over 3,000 documentaries acquired from the best filmmakers and documentary networks around the world. We add new shows every week and have a program lineup with a wide range of specially curated playlists and featured movies and series.

How Do I Subscribe to the Service?

We suggest you sign up on our website: magellantv.com. You will be prompted to choose between monthly, quarterly, or annual plans. Choose "annual" for the best value. If you are not quite ready, you can use the “Browse” button to enter the site to look over the content and watch any video for 5 minutes.

The MagellanTV app is available as a mobile Android or iOS app on The App Store and Google Play and a TV app on Roku and FireTV. These apps allow you to subscribe “In-App” through their native billing systems.

How Much Does MagellanTV Cost?

We offer three membership plans depending on the length of the membership. The best value is our annual plan, which costs $59.88 USD every 12 months. This works out to be $4.99 per month. Next is our monthly plan, which costs $5.99 per month. While it doesn't offer the discount of the annual plan, it has the most flexibility as you pay month to month. What payment types do you accept? 

We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and PayPal.  You can also join us through a third-party in-app platform such as Apple (iTunes), Google Play, Roku, and FireTV.  Note: Credit card issuers of prepaid and gift cards may restrict purchases with recurring charges.  Please check with your issuer if your payment type isn't working. 

Is There a Free Trial Period?

We offer a 7-day free trial to those who sign up for a monthly plan and a 14-day free trial for a quarterly or annual commitment. We are convinced that you will want to subscribe when you experience the depth and quality of our programs. You may cancel at any time during the free trial to avoid being billed, and you can continue to enjoy MagellanTV until the trial is over. Once the trial ends, you will be billed at the cost of your selected plan. Please note we do not offer refunds for partial time.

How Do I Cancel My Subscription?

If you just aren’t into great docs, no worries. Just go to the website, sign in under your user name and password, then go to the profile icon on the upper right (the figure of a person). There is a cancel button within the menu. Remember, your cancellation will apply to the next billing cycle. We do not offer refunds on subscription amounts already paid.

How Can I Watch MagellanTV?

We've made it easy for you to access MagellanTV on your devices that connect to the internet.  If It's a PC, SmartTV, mobile device, plug-in, or casting, we work hard to get you connected!

On your personal computer, find us on your favorite browser at magellantv.com. 

SmartTVs: LG (2018 and newer); Vizio (Some D & E series, and newer); Sony (Find our app in the Google Play Store); AppleTV (Minimum tvOS is 12.0); Samsung (Some 2017 models, and newer).  Notes:  Vizio loads apps at manufacture.  If you can't find our app, please try casting!  Samsung app is only available in the US market at this time.   

Mobile apps:  We have an app for Android phone/tablet (Version 8 to the current version) and iPhone/iPad (iOS 12 to the current version). 

Plug-in Devices:  Roku; FireTV (OS 6 & 7); AppleTV (4th and 5th generation); AndroidTV; and any TV with these devices built into the TV. 

Casting: Any Chromecast device; FireTV; Roku: Samsung (2017 and newer); LG (2016 and newer); Vizio; and AndroidTV.  

Can I Cast MagellanTV from my Mobile Device to my TV?

Glad you asked. MagellanTV is programmed to cast to any connected TV. Just press the casting icon at the top right within the mobile app. You will be prompted to choose whether to watch with your mobile device or your television within your local network. Choose your television and press play. Simple as that.

There Are no Devices Listed Under Your Casting Feature!

Our casting works by scanning your Wi-Fi for connected televisions, so make sure your phone and target device are on the same network and that you are logged in. Please note that currently, you must have an active membership to enjoy casting.

Is MagellanTV Available Outside the US?

MagellanTV is available in every connected corner of planet Earth. However, because of restrictions on the rights to some programs, not all shows are available in every country. We are constantly working with partners to expand the availability of our shows.

How Do You Acquire Your Programs?

We have built amazing relationships across the world with filmmakers, producers, and distributors of great documentaries and historical dramas to give our subscribers access to the very best shows available. We are very selective of what we put up on the service, so we may not cover every interest. Let us know what you’d like to learn more about, and we’ll see what we can do.
