War Journal: The Incredible Escape of Major Damon "Rocky" Gause
This is the thrilling true story of a nearly impossible escape from a prison camp during World War II. In 1942, American airman Rocky Gause escaped a prison camp on the Bataan Peninsula, swam to nearby Corregidor Island, and then sailed with U.S. serviceman William Osborne in a leaky fishing boat 3,200 miles, from the Philippines to Australia. Despite facing typhoons, constant threats from Japanese ships, submarines, and airplanes, a lack of water and food, and even a visit to the world’s largest leper colony, both men survived to recount their harrowing 52-day ordeal.
