Turning Muslim in Texas
Before 9/11 many Americans were extremely uninformed about Islam. But in the midst of the mass hysteria and bigotry that followed, many Americans felt genuine curiosity about this ‘new' religion and an admiration for a commitment to God that they felt they had lost. This film gets under the skin of white Texans who have chosen to embrace Islam as a way of upholding their traditional and conservative morals and their strong beliefs in family values, purity and community - despite being deeply entrenched in American culture and passion for their country.
