The Odd Destiny of Sergeant York
Alvin York, a pacifist farmer from Tennessee, and Joseph Oklahombi, a Native American from the Choctaw tribe, fought bravely in WWI. But while Alvin York received the highest honors, Joseph Oklahombi never got the same recognition. These two men became a symbol of courage that young American volunteers showed in WWI without ever meeting.
