Mummies of the Taklamakan
For ten years, a team of French and Chinese archeologists has been excavating the Taklamakan desert to learn more about the ancient Silk Road and the people who traversed it. Their quest leads them to evidence of a commercial caravan route along which Buddhism spread to China in the 1st century A.D. Mummies show that they had long reddish-blond hair, European features and didn't appear to be the ancestors of modern-day Chinese people.
