Daughter of the fabulously wealthy banker John Pierpont Morgan, Anne Morgan was in the vanguard of both feminism and humanitarian action. With the help of some 350 fellow American women yearning for emancipation, she founded CARD: the American Committee for Devastated France. These goodwill ladies had a serious task: providing local families with post-war essentials.
